Summary of proposals for the selection of athletes for the 2006 J16 Camp and training suggestions for selection to the North JIRR team.

J16 Camp Selection.
Testing of athletes for the 2006 Camp must be completed by November 30th so it is proposed that a testing day be organised on Sunday 13th November in Durham when both water testing and anthropometry can be completed.
The reason for choosing Durham for this event is to also invite and encourage all young athletes in the region to attend a training and assessment day both on/off the water to allow coaches from all clubs to assess the potential for the formation of next year's JIRR team.
JIRR training and Team Selection.
November 13th 2005 - 10:30 meeting of coaches and athletes at NRC Land Training Centre, the purpose being to familiarise coaches with the procedures for selection of the 2006 team. Depending on numbers and weather the day will be organised to be both instructive to the young athletes and also allow a certain amount of testing both on and off the water. This should guarantee early identification of potential problems with crew selections.
The important issues for the day are as follows:
-
All club junior coaches to be involved
-
Athletes to be set realistic goals for selection
-
Ergo testing and anthropometry to be included
-
Water assessment for some, ie, outstanding singles/doubles
-
Dates to be agreed for the final selection process.
Following this initial gathering the plan would be :
Sunday February 5th 2006( after Wear Head) all sculling, 1x/2x/4x would be assessed with row offs and suggestions for composite crews.
March ???? 2006 Yarm: Sweep Trials.
March/ April Day for final adjustments.

Proposed by:
A. Clark: Team Manager 2006
K. Moralee: Administrative Secretary
P. Graham: Technical Facilitator
1st November 2005
